The year 2010 – year of surprises and departures, year of jubilees and anniversaries, but first of all this is the year closing the first decade of XXI century. We had tragic events, fashion designers facing the crisis, growing number of fashion bloggers with Tavi Gevinson sitting on the fashion first rows. It was the year of anniversaries for – French Vogue, Elle, and Style.com. It was the year of departures – on February “enfant terrible” Alexander McQueen … they say that imagination never dies. After 10 years of cooperation, Carine Roitfeld left the French Vogue. But it also was the year of great return for Tom Ford and his debut as a movie director. It was a year of feminity – plus size models, 50’s fashion influences.
Presented fashion moments are like an open list highlighting the most significant events of this unique year.

Alexander McQueen – his tragic depart, his marvellous swansong, the new collection of his right hand Sara Burton – all these moments that made the world hold his breath, could not be left unrecognized. Let alone his posthumous award and tribute video art to his most outstanding designs.

Lanvin loves H&M – Annually, Swedish retailer giant invites high fashion designers for a prolific cooperation in order to create unique collection. Every year it seems to be a big happening, mentioning the crowds waiting even all night before the zero hour opening. And as we supposed the year 2010 belonged to Lanvin and H&M collaboration with their exclusive première on fashion show in Pierre Hotel in New York.
Tom Ford is back – there is another designer that put his name on the Fashion Moments 2010 book – Tom Ford. His great but still subtle return was an unexpected surprise for the fashion circles. Absent for 6 years from fashion stages, Tom Ford comes back with his S/S 2011 womenswear collection dominated by 70’s inspirations, simple forms and long elegant dresses. His director’s debut in “A Single Man” was a turning point in his view of fashion. He highlights this experience like so called katharsis which led him to design in a versatile, classic and timeless manner for real women.

Karl Lagerfeld for Pirelli – Karl Lagerfeld is not only a very creative persona and an outstanding fashion designer, but also a visionary and fashion photographer. He was invited to create the 38th edition of the exclusive Pirelli Calendar. Inspired by Homer’s works and Greek and Roman mythology, he built the Pantheon of top models in his 36 photographs maintained in black and white stylistics.
French Vogue 90th anniversary – only 10 years divides French Vogue from a century. For this occasion, currently ex-Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris - Carine Roitfeld prepared 622 pages of an exclusive jubilee issue. She invited the most talented photographers and top models to create a star studded jubilee edition. Also, an Masquerade Ball was organized, becoming truly a decadent affair. Such great event gathered the fashion’s elite wearing sophisticated couture outfits and fancy masks.
