I adore the urban feel of Half Pint Salvage’s key racks made from recycled wood! It’s yet another perfect example of how old materials can be transformed into something totally inspiring and functional!

Here is what the crafter notes: “Scouring the dusty piles and digging through the rusty bins--rescuing items that have long ago been abandoned and giving them life once more. That's an alliterative way of saying I create useful stuff using salvaged things.”

Chris Brett is a Toronto based mixed media artist with a truly rich and fresh portfolio. It’s easy to see how much urban art and especially graffiti has influenced his work.

As I read in his site: “Chris’ work has a slightly goofy and jaded sense of humor; a laugh to keep from crying sense of mania in rich color and dark tones. A reaction to the good & bad things that life can sometimes hand you.”

Take a look at his delicious spray can art! How original is that?!!

Mystic Designs

Handcrafted charming pieces with a mystic essence by Markhed Designs.

Here is a very interesting introduction to both the creative procedure and inspirations of the designer: “To begin with, I re-use discarded metal items to create many different types of jewelry. I find the act of bringing new value to something seen as worthless an exciting concept. As technology continues to change rapidly, the items we discard seem to increase tenfold. Reuse is my reaction to this culture of disposal. I complement this recycled fashion with some labor intensive pieces begun from scratch. For these I use a variety of materials, from precious metals such as silver and gold to brass and copper. These projects offer me a playground for the expression of my own aesthetic.”

An incredibly original and bold art jewelry collection by Margaux Lange who gives new life to salvaged Barbie doll parts.

Margaux states: “I enjoy the funny juxtaposition of wearing the body, on the body. Barbie has become the accessory instead of being accessorized. I take pleasure in the contrast and contradiction of transforming something mass-produced into unique, handmade, wearable pieces of art.”

The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions and her conceptual work is sought after internationally.
