Rosilyn Young aka Roz is a painter inspired by elements of nature. I simply love her brush and coloring techniques and the feeling of intimacy I get by viewing her paintings! Her artwork can be found in various galleries and private collections. I adore Ashley Gand’s artwork! Simple lines, child-like designs, extremely emotive characters that have a personality of their own. I was instantly driven to visually explore their moods and feelings and discover a new small dream universe. As the artist notes: “I strongly believe in what you're happiest doing at five is what you will be happiest doing your entire life. Growing up, I endlessly drew and embroidered onto washcloths that my grandma gave me little creatures and animals that I desperately wanted to live in the woods of my backyard. In my mind these creatures had tiny, magnificent, ornate lairs in the trunks of old trees (which I also drew, along with maps of how to get there). And although these creatures were elusive and shy, they always decided to befriend me. Over the years, my creatures have become decidedly more design-driven, put a part of me is still just drawing little friends to have”. eBoy is a group creating pixel art and toys. The artists behind this much successful team are: Kai Vermehr, Steffen Sauerteig and Svend Smital. The striking details of these complex artworks is simply unbelievable! Pixel art is a form of digital art, created through the use of raster graphics software, where images are edited on the pixel level. Graphics in most old (or relatively limited) computer and video games, graphing calculator games and many mobile phone games are mostly pixel art. Read more in Wikipedia. The “Olivetree” is one of my favs from the landscape paintings Gogo Korogiannou creates. Crisp beautiful colors, amazing depiction of light and shade, rich textures and last but not least, an artwork inspired by a symbol of peace and wisdom. The artist lives and creates in Greece, “inspired by scenes my eyes or my soul can see, like nature, everyday life, my dreams, people, music, favorite movies” as she mentions. Bold compositions and mixed media techniques blend together creating strong, energetic visuals that somehow balance between popular icons and absurdity. Figures and character design is very important in Anthony Lister’s artwork. The artist currently lives and works in New York.
Jennifer Meastre produces original sculptures made out of pencils! Hundreds of pencils are cut, sharpened and sewed together in order to create these amazing colorful art objects. Inspired by nature elements, the artist states “The sections of pencils present aspects of sharp and smooth for two very different textural and aesthetic experiences. Paradox and surprise are integral in my choice of materials. Quantities of industrially manufactured objects are used to create flexible forms reminiscent of the organic shapes of animals and nature. Pencils are common objects, here, these anonymous objects become the structure. There is true a fragility to the sometimes brutal aspect of the sculptures, vulnerability that is belied by the fearsome texture.” Very fresh visuals by Johanna Schiegnitz! Playful sketches, cool handmade fonts, colorful collages and a vivid experimentingimagination are her magic tools. The artist after finishing her studies in Visual
Communication, is currently living and working in Berlin. Jerome Mireault has created an inspiring collection of fresh stylized illustrations based on his sketches. However, I was completely blown away by his acrylic paintings. Having a fantastic feel for texture and color and a unique drawing style he creates eye catching visuals. The artist tends to experiment with various media and is inspired by urban life. He blogs here! "Explosions" is the title of these watercolor series by Rebecca Bird. The detail in texture and the softness and balanced blending of color is very distinctive in her work. A blast of emotions and traumatic memories is the message the artist strives to convey. |
