Her work is elegant, playful and very communicative. As she mentions in her online bio she started designing type out of necessity: “I was broke in college and couldn’t afford to go on an awesome font spending spree and didn’t have the time to pour through the free font sites for something actually worth using. I noticed in school that my hand drawn type would make the project feel more cohesive and special, so I tried to make custom type as much as possible for projects. Now, almost everything I make has hand-lettering in it. One major disadvantage to being good at hand-lettering is that I am TERRIBLE at picking out fonts for projects. Every time I’ve needed a crazy display font for something, I’ve just made it myself because it takes me less time to make it than it does to scour the internet for something good. Don’t ask me to recommend a similar font to anything I’ve made, I won’t know what to tell you and then I’ll feel like a lame designer.”

Strong and allegorical artwork by James Jean, a tremendously talented, award winning artist and illustrator. Having started out working as a cover artist for DC Comics he gradually shifted to fine art. I am absolutely blown away by his almost biblical imagery. Each piece invites you to enter the artist’s world, admire his harsh yet liquid brushstrokes and explore the surreal universe of his visuals. I discovered Ron Mueck’s work a couple of days ago and I was awestruck! Unrealistically sized hyper realistic sculptures created out of silicon, fiberglass and various materials using a traditional casting technique. The artist was born in Australia and started out as a model maker, moved to photo-realistic props and animatronics and gradually transitioned to fine art in 1996. He has participated in numerous group exhibs and has held solo exhibitions all over the world, his sculptures have gained international recognition and attention in the contemporary art scene.
(Photos by Gautier Deblonde) Wesley Matthew Eggebrecht is a young talented illustrator from Michigan with an enormous gift in visual storytelling. His gorgeously colored illustrations amaze me as the whole visual draws you in and urges you to enter the story. Very atmospheric, very noticeable! Looking forward to see more by this illustrator. Maria Err’s world is filled with playful energy and hyper cute characters. Her work is absolutely guaranteed to lift your mood and make you smile!
Having a sweet tooth myself, I just couldn’t resist drooling over her delicious illustrations. Can you? Absolutely eye-catching collages by Vantiani. Her beautiful color and tone palette bring out a certain retro feel and I particularly like the way she mixes and composes her themes. There is a lot of texture and pattern in her work, making it even more interesting to look at.
