The artist notes: “My goal is for each object to transcend its origins by being integrated into an animal form that seems alive. This process of reclamation and regeneration is liberating to me as an artist. By building these sculptures I try to understand the human relationships that surround me. It is a way for me to contemplate and remind myself that even if there is conflict right now, there is a way for all the pieces to fit together. That even if some people don’t feel at home here and now, there is a place where they belong and that they will eventually find it.”
The work of Sayaka Ganz is in my opinion the ultimate definition of recycle art. These magnificently assembled sculptures are made of various kind of materials such as plastic, utensils, toys and metal pieces among other things.

I discovered Ron Mueck’s work a couple of days ago and I was awestruck! Unrealistically sized hyper realistic sculptures created out of silicon, fiberglass and various materials using a traditional casting technique. The artist was born in Australia and started out as a model maker, moved to photo-realistic props and animatronics and gradually transitioned to fine art in 1996. He has participated in numerous group exhibs and has held solo exhibitions all over the world, his sculptures have gained international recognition and attention in the contemporary art scene.
(Photos by Gautier Deblonde) Inspired by nature elements, Tracy Melton creates artwork out of slices of wood! Bold rings of acrylic color are painted on sanded and clear coated wood, automatically transforming it into a unique and contemporary piece of art.
The artist is a full time artist located in Knoxville and as he mentions: “My work is a expression of what I sees while hiking and camping in the Appalachian Mountains. It is based on how nature develops, grows, dies, then starts again. I like to engage in a nonverbal conversation about nature with the viewer through my paintings. They make me think abstractly about the process of life.” Jennifer Meastre produces original sculptures made out of pencils! Hundreds of pencils are cut, sharpened and sewed together in order to create these amazing colorful art objects. Inspired by nature elements, the artist states “The sections of pencils present aspects of sharp and smooth for two very different textural and aesthetic experiences. Paradox and surprise are integral in my choice of materials. Quantities of industrially manufactured objects are used to create flexible forms reminiscent of the organic shapes of animals and nature. Pencils are common objects, here, these anonymous objects become the structure. There is true a fragility to the sometimes brutal aspect of the sculptures, vulnerability that is belied by the fearsome texture.” New York based artist Aakash Nihalani uses his bold colored tapes to create isometric designs on various places around the city. As you can see in the video, the artist reacts to space without scheduled planning and transforms it to an unexpected geometrical artwork which often reacts with surrounding elements and gives the illusion of three dimensionality. Theo Gennitsakis is a Greek illustrator currently based in Paris.
Inspired by pop culture he creates digital collages and visuals rich in colors and forms. As an experienced designer he has worked on numerous interesting projects, participated in various exhibs and cooperated with major clients. Obsessed with typography, Sean Freeman a UK based artist was recently quoted by Digital Arts Mag as one of Britain’s top 10 new illustrators. No wonder why!! His abstract style and experimenting with fonts, textures and motion lead him in creating eye striking visuals with distinct design elements.
Meredith Dittmar creates 3d fantastic visual worlds made entirely from clay! The detail in her sculptures is amazing and the aesthetic result clearly of a higher level. She often uses elements inspired from the field of biology and technology. The artist lives and creates in Portland, Oregon. Through her company "Corporatepig" she creates thousands of handmade characters entitled “My Guys”.
Born in Toronto in 1958, Ray Caesar claims he was born as a dog. His surreal artwork is mainly depicting porcelain–like figures who seem to belong to another era. He uses a 3D modeling software to create his detailed photographic textures and breathtaking environments and models.
These colorful, 3D, totem-like creations are unlike anything I have ever seen. Small pieces of cut out wood, assembled together, forming sculptures of bright colored art gods ready to devour you. Aj Fosik, the man behind these abstract creatures currently lives and creates in Phila, PA. |
