The work of Sabi Van Hemert, a Dutch artist certainly doesn’t remain unnoticed! Strange creatures, a fusion between child and alien, these surreal sculptures provoke a variety of emotions to the viewer due to both their originality and directness.
“For weeks, with great patience and discipline, I cut, paste or prick, following self-imposed rules such as, “all forms in the same rhythm” or “all lines continue onward”. This precision, and the particular materials I choose, help to give my work its alienating yet sensual, tough yet vulnerable character.”

Ivan Prieto’s work got me searching for words. His surreal sculptures appear distressed, sad, often hideous to the eye. Their deformations reminds us of our own aches, pains and weaknesses that accompany us in life.

The work of Randi Antonsen is magnificent in many ways. I really respect that she experiments with various techniques and evolves her artwork in a variety of mediums. Here I’m only presenting you a small sample of her mixed media pieces, collages and paper sculptures.
A part of the artist’s statement: “I have a carefree but fully engaged approach to life and art. I find inspiration in the smallest of things because I “see” with these inquisitive and always looking for magic eyes. My work incorporates many approaches and mediums all in one, but then so does life.”

Stacee Kalmanovsky’s drawing and painting works are filled with almost raw, emotional power. Vivid images that draw the viewer in, forms and figures depicted via inclusion and exclusion and an essence of sexiness. The use of glitter is another interesting touch as it makes her pieces even more alive and ethereal.
The artist’s statement notes: “Stacee Kalmanovsky's work is rooted in the uncanny, suggestive, and picturesque. Her urge to invent and exaggerate is tempered by a deep dedication to the medium at hand. She believes in the conceptual process itself, from gathering information and sorting through, manipulating, and qualifying the image, to the indisposable skill to achieve the end result. Like in the alchemic process, the raw matter (sulfur = visual information) is transformed, refined, and persuaded into its purest form (gold = art).”

Ron Pippin creates outstanding art out of mechanical & animal parts and various found or collected objects. There is a certain “steampunk” feel in his creations and the artist has mentioned in an interview: “My work is often related to ideas about the relationship of Science, Art, and Nature. My scientific aesthetic is primarily drawn from the 19th Century, when, I feel, science still had a relationship to beautiful forms.”.
A definitely worth viewing collection!
