I think that there is no need for further descriptions … As they say “a picture is worth a thousand words”.
An extraordinary project entitled “100mph!!!” by Henry Hargreaves, a talented young photographer who was primarily introduced to this industry in front of the camera as a model of various fashion houses. His passion for photography urged him to establish his own studio and start creating, this time behind the lens. He specializes in both still life and fashion photography.
I think that there is no need for further descriptions … As they say “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

Levi van Veluw’s original project experiments with various materials and focuses on slight perception shifts that are evoked by transformation. The expressionless face functions as a white canvas on which all change takes place. The fact that these shots haven’t been digitally manipulated and each image contains a short history of a performance is truly admirable! Human sculpture! As the artist notes: “The unusual and unimpressive materials, traces of glue and other imperfections that exist in the production of the work are what form the aesthetic value in my image. This revaluation of these normally insignificant elements only occurs because they now exist in a new context that distances them from their original circumstances and associations. During this process I became more and more aware that all objects, materials, events are assigned a commonly held value, but that this valuation could just as easily be different. It was those elements that nobody had an opinion about that then became most interesting to me. Because they seem to contain little meaning to people, they are malleable and can easily have their perceptions about them altered.” Frankenkitty is a world full of bizarre creatures, masked creepy dolls and surreal characters of all kind. Conceptual themes, interesting textures and a vivid imagination combine perfectly in order to create a fascinating collection that urges you to look better and dive into this mysterious visual world. Mari Lowery is the photographer behind Frankenkitty and as she states: “I suppose that, overall, my style would be considered dark or surreal, and in many cases, creepy, but I just photograph what interests me. I collect dolls and many of the photos are of dolls from my own collection. Other than dolls, I also have a fascination with many things, including Masks, Day of the Dead, Frankenstein, Mannequins, Bunnies, Gnomes, Clowns, Coney Island, Animals, Clouds and Nature.” Emma Lynne’s photographs are perfect for a crafter’s studio don’t you think? Focusing mostly in still life, she captures her favorite objects in a creative manner and all of her pieces have lovely warm colors and interesting compositions. This old vintage sewing machine is actually my personal favorite!
Ina Christensen is the photographer behind “Walking to Jericho” photo studio! Old black and white photographs or polaroids are hand colored and transformed into pop pieces that will definitely rock your walls! Ina notes: “I love the look of old tin prints and large polaroids. The depth and clarity is still today superior to most of the best modern equipment. I hand color each photo, working with the elements of the shot to create a hip, bold work that really wakes up your walls. I print out on archival, Kodak Endura paper. This thick luster paper is one of the best in the industry. With all the depth and pop you would expect from a darkroom print.” f2images state: “Our ambition is to capture and present images in a unique and engaging way.” There’s no need to add that their ambition is fulfilled as this inspiring and very original collection is definitely eye-catching! In their gallery one can browse through photographic series concentrating on vintage, food, nature landscapes and industrial shots. I selected to present their Insect set because I was completely blown away by its originality and high aesthetics. Interesting experimenting with light effects and glamour photo shots by Brian Lynch. The photographer lives and works in San Diego, CA. I am a texture maniac, I admit it. This is why I am sharing Valentine’s Project “Adayalam”. “The functional advertising and political propaganda painted on any available flat wall in Kerala (India) form the pallete for this new set of images. Adayalam takes the adornment from these often degrading surfaces to a new artistic context. Working through abstraction, the photos retain, sometimes subtle, references to location and the vibrant colour of the indiginous culture." [as quoted by the artist] |
