I was delighted to receive an email by artist Eliza Frye introducing me to her work which captivated me right from the start! Her fragile, yet expressive and poetic figures draw you into their mysterious worlds. Lovely use of bold and vibrant colors and a very interesting experimentation with negative space!

As I read in her official site: “The artist has studied Character Animation at California Institute of the Arts, holds a BA in Japanese Literature from UCLA and is currently working on her MFA in Creative Writing at Calarts. She also owns Miss Scarlet in the Parlor, an art gallery in Echo Park and teaches animation at Inner-City Arts through Calarts' Community Arts Partnership.”

Don’t forget to take a look at Eliza Frye’s online shop for an inspiring collection of both prints and original art!

Simply breathtaking watercolor illustrations by Catherine Parr who is currently living and creating in Los Angeles. I am thrilled by her color combinations and the way the soft lines of pencil show beneath colored areas. Her fashion inspired characters are whimsical and sophisticated.

As the artist notes: “For me, inspiration comes from many places. Ealing Studios, French and Italian Cinema, along with music, theatre and dance.”

Check out her online shop at etsy for gorgeous prints.

Nina notes “I love to capture the colours, lines and characters in architecture and nature, or anything else that catches my eye!”.
I certainly trust her taste!

A lovely and original themed art collection by Norwegian artist Gunilla Holm Platou. A playful world where cows inhabitants are depicted in her watercolor and gouache series. Funny, joyful and whimsical, these prints are guaranteed to leave a huge smile on your face. They did on mine!

The artist started her career in adveritising, worked as a TV presenter and finally during 2002 decided to become a full time artist.

Colorful abstractions

The work of Yellena makes me search for words! Abstract, colorful, liquid and so beautiful! Forms and color unite to create “colorful arrangements of organic shapes and tangled lines (which) are at once floral and alien, organic and sci-fi, crafty and fantastic. Within each piece I try to create an intimate world that posesses its own ethos and its own emotional range.” Somehow like an explosion of creative imagination!

The artist lives and creates in Portland while her artwork has been exhibited in galleries worldwide and her illustrations have been presented in a wide range of design publications.

Italian painter Vincenzo Rizzo creates portraits filled with bold power! His mixed media collection is a series of expressive portraits where color and texture combined with fantastic, almost liquid drawings and a vivid imagination, give you the impression that they’ve literally captured a woman’s soul!

The artist has finished his Fine Art studies and is specialized in visual arts. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and keeps experimenting with various techniques.

A new entry in my top fav list!

A former graphic designer, Dilka decided to dedicate her creativity in being a full time artist. I believe she took the right decision!

Her watercolors and acrylics on wood travel the viewer in magical worlds of visual pleasure and mystery. I particularly appreciate the balance in her color palette and the stylized attributes of her illustrated characters.

Browsing through her online shop one can find a variety of whimsical illustrations. Imagine her prints in light colored wooden or white matte frames. Pure pleasure!
