Hauntingly beautiful and provocative imagery by talented & young artist Sylvia Ji. Beauty is expressed in a decaying manner and a veil of mystery implies that something disturbing or mysterious is about to happen.

Beautiful watercolor illustrations by Stina Persson, an illustrator based in Stockholm. Her colorful artwork really brings out the scent of a woman through elegant fluid forms. For more inspiration visit her site here. I’m an incredible fan of Audrey Kawasaki’s inspiring artwork.
Her enigmatic and charming manga influenced figures are drawn on wood panels, giving the artwork a fine natural and atmospheric touch. Tetsuya Ishida was unfortunately hit by a train and died at the age of 31, leaving behind approximately 180 artworks he had created during the last 10 years of his art career.
The characters in his paintings are often depicted sad and despaired with their bodies captured in some machine or other object and it is said that the artist attempted to depict the dark side of Japanese life through his surreal visions. Don’t be fooled! These are not canvas paintings, but real people painted by the hand of talented and innovative installation artist Alexa Meade. Balancing between perception and reality she paints on live models, 3d surfaces and various objects and incorporates her creations into various installations that urge the viewer to experience an alternate perspective of her art. Mark Ryden’s work is simply phenomenal. A secret paradise where weird little characters with a fascination for the obscure and freaky reside. Seemingly innocent children are depicted in the most contradicting manner along with often vicious symbols or strange sights of the natural world. Ryden’s work is most certainly striking. There is so much going on in his pieces that one can stare for hours and still discover hidden detailed aspects. A masterful work that has gained recognition in the modern art arena. Strong and allegorical artwork by James Jean, a tremendously talented, award winning artist and illustrator. Having started out working as a cover artist for DC Comics he gradually shifted to fine art. I am absolutely blown away by his almost biblical imagery. Each piece invites you to enter the artist’s world, admire his harsh yet liquid brushstrokes and explore the surreal universe of his visuals. I love the colors and the whimsical drawing style of this gouache and ink painting collection by Nina Moscrip, the talented artist behind Artquirk! Selected corners and architectural drawings from Edinburgh, Dublin and Venice. Nina notes “I love to capture the colours, lines and characters in architecture and nature, or anything else that catches my eye!”.
I certainly trust her taste! I’ve been a fan of Elli Griva’s artwork the minute I laid my eyes on her paintings! It seemed to me like an explosion of colored emotions and symbols, a natural and pure attempt to reveal her inner self, thoughts, dreams and fears through vivid, persistent and abstract brushstrokes! There is so much going on in her work, makes you want to explore and discover every tiny detail.
Matte Stephens is a young artist living and creating in Portland: “I love modern design and im inspired by anything Charles and Ray Eames ,Alexander Girard, George Nelson/Irving Harper and artists like Ben Shahn and Paul Klee.”
I really like the consistency in his artwork, his color palette is amazing and the overall atmosphere in his pieces bear an essence from the past. |
