On their online bio I read: “Strati’s static and still life inspired background, blends beautifully with Beva’s freedom and freshness. This brings forth a very controlled and immaculate attention to detail, but with a relaxed point of view that makes their subjects appear comfortable and in control”.
A strong dose of visual inspiration by Stratis & Beva photographic team. Their work is mostly fashion / advertising orientated and their client list includes big firms such as Dior, .LAK, Frankie Morello, Levis etc. On their online bio I read: “Strati’s static and still life inspired background, blends beautifully with Beva’s freedom and freshness. This brings forth a very controlled and immaculate attention to detail, but with a relaxed point of view that makes their subjects appear comfortable and in control”.

Viewing the photo collection of Alyz feels like being Alice in Wonderland. Vivid, bold, fantasy themed imagery that intrigues your imagination and pleases your eyes. Alyz notes: “I have been a music and culture journalist for 8 years, so I’ve had the chance to meet a lot of great photographers. I have also been modeling for several years, so I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of brilliant artists in this way as well. After a while, I found myself a bit frustrated, spending so much time admiring the fantastic images of others, so I finally decided to pick up a camera myself, so that I could create my own visions”. Experimenting with different and often contradicting characters, Sarah Small’s project entitled “Delirium Constructions” has some very interesting photo shots. The photographer’s statement: “The Delirium Constructions is an ongoing body of work exploring disassociated themes and characters brought together into the same space. I bring models into improbable, close interactions to examine the social and graphic contrasts of youth and experience, hysteria and discipline, tragedy and hilarity, and sexuality and desexualization.
These scenarios are staged, but the emotions that result are born through improvisation, spontaneously captured and authentically experienced. Like an optical illusion, where the viewer shifts between opposing visual perceptions, these images reference emotional illusion, a rocking back and forth between projection and introspection, between darkness and hilarity.” Levi van Veluw’s original project experiments with various materials and focuses on slight perception shifts that are evoked by transformation. The expressionless face functions as a white canvas on which all change takes place. The fact that these shots haven’t been digitally manipulated and each image contains a short history of a performance is truly admirable! Human sculpture! As the artist notes: “The unusual and unimpressive materials, traces of glue and other imperfections that exist in the production of the work are what form the aesthetic value in my image. This revaluation of these normally insignificant elements only occurs because they now exist in a new context that distances them from their original circumstances and associations. During this process I became more and more aware that all objects, materials, events are assigned a commonly held value, but that this valuation could just as easily be different. It was those elements that nobody had an opinion about that then became most interesting to me. Because they seem to contain little meaning to people, they are malleable and can easily have their perceptions about them altered.” Embodiment is a Project by photographer Molly Landreth and video artist Amelia Tovey that explores the feeling of being gay in America today. A series of emotive portrait shots are captured aiming to convey reality and document sometimes hidden love stories. The project has gained international recognition and has been supported and funded by various public and private donors. Molly has received her BA in Studio Art and an MFA in photography and she lives and creates in Washington.
Erin Tyner is the photographer of this original series depicting miniature figures in various environments.
There is a soft melancholy in her shots as she captures the emotive situations her tiny characters found themselves into. |
