Viewing the photo collection of Alyz feels like being Alice in Wonderland. Vivid, bold, fantasy themed imagery that intrigues your imagination and pleases your eyes. Click and visit her visualyz world for you have so much more to discover! Alyz notes: “I have been a music and culture journalist for 8 years, so I’ve had the chance to meet a lot of great photographers. I have also been modeling for several years, so I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of brilliant artists in this way as well. After a while, I found myself a bit frustrated, spending so much time admiring the fantastic images of others, so I finally decided to pick up a camera myself, so that I could create my own visions”. Embodiment is a Project by photographer Molly Landreth and video artist Amelia Tovey that explores the feeling of being gay in America today. A series of emotive portrait shots are captured aiming to convey reality and document sometimes hidden love stories. The project has gained international recognition and has been supported and funded by various public and private donors. Molly has received her BA in Studio Art and an MFA in photography and she lives and creates in Washington.
Megan Horsburgh is a self taught photographer raised in Pennsylvania and currently located in California. Her portraits are very emotive and expressive, covered by a dark veil of mystery. I also like the way she experiments with various techniques. As the artist mentions in her online bio: “In photography there are very few "firsts", and even fewer "lasts", but the possibilities are endless. I'll point a camera at just about anything, and quite often - at myself. Photography has shown me so many things, about myself and about the world in which we live. I never want to stop, and I'm never going to. So pay attention.” I was completely awestruck when I discovered the dark conceptual photo gallery of Caryn Drexl!
It seems like there is a mysterious story behind each well directed and executed shot. Visuals that urge you to discover hidden meanings, expand your imagination and alter your ‘normal’ interpretation of things. I found Claire Wise’s incredible work while browsing Etsy for new discoveries! While there is a variety of wonderful available prints in her shop, you’ve got to visit her official site in order to discover the complete collection of her inspiring children portraits. A dreamy and nostalgic color palette that made me pause and try to recall old childhood memories, when everything was sweet, simple and calm! Claire is a professional photographer located in Nashville. As she mentions in her site: “I have a lifelong love of children and photography. It's significant magic when a child's persona and the right moment are captured together unaware. I love capturing the essence of your children being children. If I had to define my "style" I would say impressionistic. I capture childhood as it happens.” Whimsical and poetic digital photo collages by Lyse Marion, the artist behind Imagine Studio. Mixing and experimenting with various digital techniques and inspired by nature, Lyse creates bold imagery with a touch of mystery. As the artist states in her online bio: “Through more than 30 years, my one constant expression in art has been Collage, and for the past five years I have been working on transferring this art form into the digital world. Layers upon layers of thoughts, emotions and research have been turned into transparencies, textures, colours, depth, emotions, portraitures, etc. This virtual digital world of seemingly endless possibilities has given me a new take on my artwork, allowing me to pursue even further my undying need to produce lyrical, evocative and sometimes provocative images.” Viewing Tamara Lichtenstein’s photo collection was like an adrenaline shot! Absolutely intriguing, dreamlike and raw! A fatal combination I must add! Using the technique of dual exposure, she experiments with her subjects and ideas, showcasing a very fresh and genuine artistic approach.
Tamara captures moments of pure visual delight and reveals her world in a bold manner. In a way every professional photographer should! A limited selection of prints is currently available in her Etsy Shop! A very talented girl with many faces quoting Frida Kahlo “I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best”. In the artist’s ellemoss gallery one can find a wide variety of conceptual shots. Romantic, dark, emotive, even surreal visual images compose an inspiring and dreamy collection!
The artist’s artwork has been featured in numerous art sites and magazines. The photographs selected are part of the collection “Keeping Lost Time”. Capturing moments in time is almost like trying to capture magic.
Jeff Friesen has stated about this project: “There was a time when we all wandered the earth like little gods. Faced with an unknown world we made it our own, imagining creatures and landscapes into being between breaths. Even our smallest thoughts were acts of creation. Days passed but we took no notice. Then, without warning, everything changed. Time, for so long immaterial, made its grip known. Seasons that seemed eternal began passing by like cars hurtling towards a distant city. The years laid sediment that hardened our thoughts. We were mortal after all. After taking care of our daughter, June, for her first three years I was incredulous that she would eventually forget the rich experiences that lit up her days. Why are we destined to lose the memories of our early life? It seems unjust that our most vivid perceptions of the world get confined to a locked room in our subconscious. Like many parents I turned to photography to keep a record of June’s lost time. The initial images were fine, but also redundant in the churn of today’s limitless photography. I wanted more than just record keeping—I wanted to make June’s thoughts, her secret world, visible.” The artist has been awarded internationally for his work. |
